Dave Sheppard Jr. has been creating hand crafted wood artwork since 1995. He studiedat the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia,and while well versed in painting and photography, his true love is combing beautifully detailed illustration on free form wood.

He uses the art of burning, also known as pyrography, to produce unique and beautiful creations that sometimes incorporate antique metals, clocks, compasses, and other nautical instruments in the final creation. He was greatly influenced by his grandfather, a watchmaker, and his father, a professional photographer.

Dave personally selects and cuts his own wood, most of which comes from trees that were downed by storms or building projects. His artistic flair and creative skills enable him to transform a fallen tree into a lovely and lasting work of art.

The woods consist of cedar, sycamore, locust, ash, walnut, maple, and oak. Each piece is carefully cut, dried, worked, and coated-to ensure that the artwork is beautiful in its design and functional in its application.
